Default Barview - North & South Jetty

I visited the coast over New Years.
Stopped by Barview to see the "damages" of all the resent storms. The tide & water continues to flow over the North & South Jetty. I was amazed to see how much the north jetty has been moved around by the waves. Does anyone know if the Corp of Engin. has plans to straighten out the north jetty as it is now a zig-zag out there? Also, the red & green cans are almost inside the jetty, when will they reposition them? I would love to watch & see how they fix it.

I spent last night on the boat at South Beach and noticed that the Yaquina jetties are being pounded also. It looks like some of the re-build that they just completed is erroding fast!

I noticed the same thing, I also noticed that it is breaking all the way across on a so so swell, I think it is shallowing up as well.

The sand on the beach below the house has been pulled back as well. There are rocks showing now that were covered with 5 ft of sand.

What is even more interesting....during the elnino year in the mid 90"s, the sand disappeared as well.

Tuna ...tuna...tuna....were 8 miles out also.

Has anyone noticed the boat that is sitting in the sand just south of the S jetty in newport? I don' think I've ever seen it before and it looks like it's been there for some time.

Oh Wak! Really? 8 miles?

Now see... here it is Monday, I'm sitting in my office trying to work and now all I can think of is TUNA! Sure glad John and I spent yesterday working on the "Pilar". I can't wait to see her newly varnished panels all covered in tuna blood!

Muuuaaaaaaahhh!

I've been going to that beach for the last 25 years or so and have never seen it before. Does it appear and re-appear with the moving sand??

Salmonator,
I'm not sure, I saw it the first time about 10 years ago. Come to think of it, I've probably only seen it 4 or 5 times though.
