Just today.

A buddy on mine will have two Stabi-crafts at the Portland Boat Show. I will be helping him at the booth. Come and say hello.

This is a tuna crushin' machine. It's an awesome ride!

Dan Lomax will be making a post shortly. He is the North American Rep.

Joby

I might be wrong, but I believe the Stabi and the ACB's are identical. When Stabi first came to the US they didn't find a market. ACB might have even been started by a former Stabi guy. I work with a guy who just got an ACB and it is mucho cool and mucho $$$$$. The only thing that struck me was the amount of usable beam for fishing, other than that bullet proof.

Hello Salty Dogs,

I have been lurking here now for a couple weeks... patiently waiting to make my first post and learning plenty about tuna fishing!! You see, I’d like to introduce you all to a new ‘Tuna Slaying Machine’ that is coming to town... but I didn’t want my first post to come off as a sales pitch and seem totally inappropriate.

But now that the Stabi-Craft banner is flying here... allow me to tell you a short story. Not a ‘fish’n’ tale... but a ‘fish’n boat’ story. Sorry about the length of the post... I guess it really isn’t a short story after all.

It began almost a year ago when I drug my mate (8 1/2 months pregnant w/ a new ‘deckhand’) to the Seattle boat show to look at the 22 Grady-White I’d been dreaming about. I thought if she saw it... she would approve and then it would be mine (ours)! She of course had other ideas as she glanced at the price tag... uttered something about priorities while pointing at her belly. To really get her point across... she went into labor the very next day and had our first child (a very salty lad... ready to take on any Albie!!).

While at the show she found a place to sit and rest her tired legs right in front on an odd looking boat... the ACB. I decided to have a closer look. I was very curious about this strange looking boat and signed up to receive more info. A few weeks later, product info and VHS tape arrived... another couple weeks and I’m in B’ham for a demo and factory tour. Snotty, nasty day on B’ham Bay... but the boat doesn’t mind. I was impressed... very seaworthy!!

I return home thinking how I will convince my mate that this is the boat for us... but first because I always research things to death... I decided an e-mail to Stabi-Craft (the originators of this hull design) is in order... just to learn more about their boats and see if they have any dealers here in the USA. A nice reply from the president and owner of Stabi-Craft ... and the rest as they say... is history!!

Now, many e-mails later... a trip to NZ to meet the people of Stabi-Craft, see and demo the boats... and the choice was obvious... in fact I was so impressed I bought 2! Without getting into details here... Stabi-Craft have been building these boats for 15 years. They are the originator... not an imitator.

If you want to learn more... please come by and see me at the Portland Boat show on either weekend. I’ll have the 22’ hardtop (aka 659HT) there in building C... right in amongst another awesome (and Salty Dog favorite) offshore fishing boat... the Sea Sports.

Plus, it would just be nice to put a face on some of these Avatars and talk/learn more about the tuna fishing off the coast. And besides, maybe I can persuade one of you experienced ‘Tuna slayers’ to accompany me and Redbull on our maiden voyage to the ‘Tuna Grounds’ this summer.

Cheers
Dan

Drifty and I met Dan and checked out his boat, Red Bull. It is a beauty and all Drifty could do was talk about the possibilities, I think he is hooked. Nice boat. I would like a ride this summer if ya make it down this way.
See you on the water,
