Crabbing report for Garibaldi?
Anyone getting crab out of the bay at Garibaldi. Saw the bad reports on Nehalem and was wondering if the area around Garibaldi has been slow too?

Re: Crabbing report for Garibaldi?
Good enough! Thanks for the info. I'm coming in from out of state and taking an 11 year old that will be dissapointed if we get skunked. He'd be happy with 6. Thanks again!

Re: Crabbing report for Garibaldi?
Crabbed Saturday with two traps, three rings for three hours and only found 3 keepers. We didn't have shad, though. Found out the Barview Jetty Store had shad AFTER we got off the water.

Re: Crabbing report for Garibaldi?
Never used shad. I've done best with skinned mink or muskrat carcasses. Is shad better than chicken, mink, or other fish baits? I tend to stay away from fish baits because I lose so many to sea lions.

if you have traps to keep the seals out shad is the best...

Re: Crabbing report for Garibaldi?
Heres a little trick that helps when you are using crab rings and wanting to keep the Sea Lions out of your bait a little better. Attach the bait to the bottom side of your rings they still fish great and the the sea rodents can't get to your bait as easy, because the ring is sitting on top of your bait. It works pretty good, and bait seems to last a little longer too. Yes, Shad is the best bait IMO Good Luck!

Re: Crabbing report for Garibaldi?
6 pots 3 hours on Saturday, during the incoming tide, 4 keepers
6 pots 4 hours on Monday, incoming and slack, 5 keepers
Didn't seem to matter whether I used Shad or Halibut bait.
