Who's going Sunday?
Thinking about heading to the CR tomorrow morning. Anyone else going? Looks a little sporty, but the am should be ok.

We're debating. Monitoring wetsand & NOAA as we speak. Right now its windy and raining. Out there, buoy shows 15.5 kn winds, 19 kn gusts with 5.6'ers @ 6 sec....

Re: Who's going Sunday?
Flatocean (boat SLABHUNTER) and I are waiting for the NOAA update @ 1500. We will make our decision then. The thing that is hanging us up right now is the bar forecast. If it gets nasty and with a big ebb we may get stuck out until 1130 or so. So we are taking our time with our decision.

Re: Who's going Sunday?
From what I've seen, it's supodes to turn around and be a nw wind and 2 on 8 at 11 sec. That's not too bad. I've been out in worse and I've been out when the forecast was similar and had an almost flat ocean.

Good Point on the bar...This is the tide report I have.....
From what I read, going OUT will be more of an issue as you'd be going on on the Ebb, AND it is a large exchange.
Coming back you'd most likely be in around noon, on the flood.
Leaving at 10AM, during the slack would be best, but that doesn't get you on the CR until 11..after the nook bite.
2008-07-06 3:17 AM PDT 7.67 feet High Tide
2008-07-06 5:32 AM PDT Sunrise
2008-07-06 9:57 AM PDT -0.94 feet Low Tide
2008-07-06 9:57 AM PDT Moonrise
2008-07-06 4:41 PM PDT 6.96 feet High Tide
2008-07-06 9:09 PM PDT Sunset
2008-07-06 10:11 PM PDT 2.10 feet Low Tide

Re: Who's going Sunday?
We usually leave the Hammond dock by 5:30. That should put me out there before max ebb by at least an hour and a half. If all goes well, like it did last weekend, I should be back to the jetty for some rocks by 10:00. We'll see how it plays out. Catch and release sturgeon is the back up plan.

ya, our plan is to leave the house at 5 (Ocean Park), be on the boat by 5:30a, fuel up...over the bar at 6, on the #2 buoy to drop lines about 7am depending on seas and how fast we can run on the way out.

Re: Who's going Sunday?
I'm heading that way in a couple of hours. I'll go and take a look and if needed just do some Sturg fishing C&R style. What about the Slabhunter?

Re: Who's going Sunday?
Slabhunter is planning on going as well, but will keep a close eye on the ocean. Right now is clearing off Neahkahnie. Will leave Hammond by 5:30 if ocean allows. plan to fish until the ebb is over. Now the question ?? if the ocean cooperates, and the CG lets us across the bar - where are the fish?? buoy 2 to the CR? South of the CR ? north of 1?

Re: Who's going Sunday?
We found them south of the CR and trolled south from there last Sunday. That's probably where I'll start.
