Default Columbia River Ocean Area Question

I seem to get conflicting data on what is open off the mouth of the Columbia. I thought you could only Chinook and Coho fish on Sunday thru Thursday, but it sounds as if people fished today? Anyone know the current situation. I looked at the ODFW page and could not find clarification.

Thanks.

Here is the way I understand the situation. I could be wrong, but here goes. There was a chinook only season from June 1 to 28 this year and it was open 7 days a week. Beginning June 29, there is a season for a little over 10,000 hatchery coho and the remainder of the 5300 chinook that were allotted for the June 1 to 28 season. These fish may only be chased from Sunday to Thursday each week. The fishery is closed Friday and
Saturday. I did see one post that was dated 7/4 and said that "we fished today out of Hammond", but it was posted at 1:00 a.m., so I assumed that he was talking about having fished on Thursday, a legal day. More than this I don't know.

Salmon ocean fishing is open Sun - Thur for 2 salmon of either species. If, however, it's a coho, it needs a heal clipped fin.

Key West, are you going Sunday, Dean? It doesn't look like a very nice ocean.

As much as we WANTED to fish out there, we had to head up to toung point because the ocean is only open Sunday to Thursday (inclusive).
Sunday does look dicey at best...maybe - just maybe if we leave at 6am, we could be off the water before the 20kn winds hit in the afternoon...
gamble worth it?

It seems that they close it on the weekends to allow more fish for the charters than sportsmen with their own boats.
Just how much more $ does ODFW get from charters than sportsmen with their own boats?
Seems backwards to me.
I dont have a grudge against charters..but I wonder how ODFW justifies this?
