Why not fish for steelhead off one of the beaches. I have seen people Sturgeon fish from the bank at the Gilbert ramp. Never hung around at the launch long enough to know if they did any good.

I've never fished that area and don't know where any of the beaches are. I just started working on the bridge a week and a half ago and have'nt had a chance to explore it. Is it open for steelhead.

Lots of areas to fish on either side. On Reeder Road you can have access to the Columbia side. There's a marina that supposedly has decent catfishing, but I've not tried it. I mainly go for sturgeon or salmon/steelhead. You can keep sturgeon Thursday-Sunday. Size is 42"-60."
It's been a little slow these days, but good luck.

When/If you go just dont forget your parking permit. As they are required. You can get them at any ODFW *** outlet. Or at the little shop just as you enter

Definetely pay attention to the parking/no parking signs or you stand a very good chance of getting a ticket -and- being towed. Right now, the skeeters are the worst they've seen in a long time, though, so I highly recommend lots of bug spray and a face net!

Really? I fished there yesterday and had no problems. Saw a frog, and a few spiders, but no skeeters.

I'm looking at no less than 15 bites on me and that was at the end of Sauvie Road on Tue night. Maybe I just taste better.

Hmmmm.....guess I should shower.
Seriously, though, I was out with a buddy most of the day yesterday, and no bugs at all. Maybe we just got lucky. I'll pack some bug spray next time I am out.
Did you guys have any luck?

Is Willow bar still open I know they shut it down last year because of a few people who were to lazy to pack out their trash.

Re: Where to bank fish @ sauvie island?
There are new signs posted, and I saw some cars pulling in and parking at the entry yesterday. Haven't heard/checked though.

Re: Where to bank fish @ sauvie island?
Man I was there today talk about skeeters Just looked like one big cloud of them up and down the beach. My bug repellent didnt seem to phase them either ... To make matters worse, we didn't even get a to nibble. My son was a bit disapointed. He's been wanting to catch his first shaker for a week now. We finally gave up and headed home.. There was still a few die hards out there @ 300pm or so hope they did better then we did
