GPS Chart/Depth Sounder Combo?

Calling all dogs, calling all dogs - MB is on the lookout for some good electronics for an even better price!

With the boat show on the horizon, I need to get a little schooling on GPS chart plotter/Depth finder combo units. I have seen some under $1K and many well over. Looking for ANY information regarding these units: opinions, suggestions, experiences, necessary options, intergration issues, whatever you can spare?

Once you decide what you want, check out PriceScan . They look for the best price nationwide. They don't have it all, but they could have what your looking for.

The Lowrance LCX 16CL and LCX 15CL are being phased out ... I've seen them for $1000 off list in the Portland area in the last week. I'd keep those units on my list!

I am looking for a unit myself. Haven't yet figured out which one. The resolution and screen size of the Lowrance LCX-15MT looks hard to beat for the price. This link: OnlineMarine pretty well has all known units at the best prices I have seen.

That is good site to do comparisons. Man some of those brands can get expensive! Let me know if you come to some deciding factors.

I've got the Lowrance LCX 15 and it is a great unit, great resolution for the price, the 16 is the same unit just with color.

Can't go wrong if they are phasing them out and you find them less then $1000.
