Can someone like Trout too much???
Here is the story
My son-in-law Mark, granddaughter Courtney and I went up to Northfork Res. this morning to catch a few fish.
My granddaughter had only caught one fish and it was hooked by someone else on their pole, so she still wanted to catch one ALL by herself on HER own pole.
So we get the boat in the water around 7:AM, and BAM just off the launch , Mark nails one. It looked like it may have be a short morning.
Well we spent quit awhile trolling around with not much more than a couple bites. So while things are slow my granddaughter decides to name the fish, (Floppy). She spent some time checking on Floppy and talking to him (or her?), and apparently build up some kind of relationship with the fish as he (or she?) Swam along side the boat on the stringer. We told her that if the fish was still alive and the only fish we had we would release it.
Soon it was time to head back for a potty break and we picked up some speed and Floppy was struggling to keep up. Courtney was afraid Floppy was going to die and started crying.
At this point we stopped the boat and set her little finned friend free.
Now Mark and I was wondering how to precede with the rest of the trip as it seemed apparent that no fish were going to die by our hands today.
We decided that we would practice "catch-n-release". I am not sure if that was Good Karma or not but after that we caught about 24 fish and lost about 4, all were released with out harm and Courtney was happy, Mark was happy (neither one will eat fish) and I was happy (I would have had to clean them all).
But most importantly Floppy and all his(or hers?) Little Buddies were happy.
I am going to record today as a GREAT DAY in my book.
