Default VoIP Business Phone System Thoughts?

I have been tasked with selecting a new phone system for our small business - 7 lines, 15 or so phones. I have started the research process and it appears that the biggest decision is whether to go VoIP or not.

Does anyone out there use VoIP for their business phone system? Do you like it? Hate it? What phones and software do you use? What other issues should I be considering?

I appreciate any input Ifish members can give me.

I installed a NEC 2000 VOIP system about 5 years ago. It's acutally a bit of a hybrid system. I went ahead with digital lines for my reception and critical order taker extensions and then use IP phones for everyone else. I like the IP phones from an administrative perspective. Very easy to move, reprogram and expand. The risk is if your network goes down, so do the phones.

With the size system you're talking about I would probably go with the lower cost, highly proven digital systems.

I'll send you a PM with the vendors I used.

I cant help point you in the right direction for a system that size, but I would most definately do with a VoIP system. The options and functionality are so far ahead of what you can do with a digital system. Things like Voice mail to email (WAV file in your inbox) or call forwarding from your office phone to your cell. If your company would utilize features like that it's hard not to justify.
