Default Anyone: Installed a varible depth pool liner before?

I am replacing the liner in the pool.... 18x39 with a 6ft deep end. If anyone in here has put in a liner of this type before can I scrape some knowledge? I will maybe be doing this this weekend. Ah for the love of kids.

I had a 12 x 32 with a 6' deep end, I paid someone to install the liner, best thing i did, just has a few beers and watched. he centered the liner first the added water as he streched out the wrinkles using a broom, hands and prayer.

A friend of mine had it done before last summer. His in-ground pool is about 15x36. From what I remember, the guy did it much like cptdarel described.

I did it for a living a long, long time ago. We used a shop vac to draw a vacuum under the liner and work the wrinkles out before we added water.

Snap the liner into the coping all around the edge of the pool, making sure it is oriented correctly. Pull a small section loose and insert the shop vac hose in about 2 or three feet. Fire up the vac and it will begin to suck the air out from behind the liner. Just work the wrinkles out, starting from the main drain in the deep end working up to the walls and the shallow end. After you get it the way you like it, cut in the main drain, skimmer and returns. Then fill 'er up. Leave the vac on until the water is up to the walls.

Thanks for the replies

Did you ever walk around inside the pool area or did you use a long extension broom for the wrinkles. My pool is 18x39

We used to take our shoes off and get in the pool to push the wrinkles out.

Yo, Deputy Dan, The pool liner is in and NO wrinkles. I just treated it like it was a gigantic piece of vinyl sticky letters and applied it precisely. So, the kids dont want the kokanee just yet. Would be fun though kokanee need about 55 degree water and a better depth! Hey, is Rufus kinda like Rufee. As in Ill trade you 1 quaylude for one Rufee!
