Susuki outboards
Do any of you have experience with Susuki 2 stroke outboards?
How about 75HP?
What is the life expectancy out of a well maintained unit?
Thanks in advance....

Re: Susuki outboards
Ray,
I have a two stroke Suzuki 140 and absolutely love it. The fuel consumption is not to bad and the motor is very quiet. I have let it set for awhile and it started first turn of the key. It is a 1998. I fished the ocean alot this past summer and it performed well every trip. I definitely rate it a thumbs up.

Re: Susuki outboards
Thanks for the feedback FF,
How easy are they to maintain and have you had any trouble getting parts?

Re: Susuki outboards
Hi Mr. Fisherman,
My buddy has a 70hp 4 stroke about3 yrs old. It's an awesome motor. So Quiet and fuel effiecient. I know your asking about a 2 stroker but that's all I know. Also Magnum Marine in Clackamas sells them. You might want to talk to them. Good luck,

Re: Susuki outboards
I bought a 25 hp Suzuki in 1979. I'm sure I logged about 800 to a 1000 hrs a year on it the first 10 years I had it. Then I slowed down to maybe 200 hours a year till last year. I bought a new 25. The old motor still ran great but I was getting nervous taking it to the rockpile. It was always ran on amsoil 100 to 1 mix. Never left me stranded. Did break a propshaft and replaced the head gasket once. Water pump impellar once. I had two mercs before that and only got 4 years out of them. Just plain wore them out. I'm sure there are other good motors out there but I know Suzuki is way up there at the top. 23 years on an out board that was used hard. Dan M

Re: Susuki outboards
I don't know about their outboards but, if ya think about it they have been in the business of making 2 strokes for a really long time on dirt bikes and 4 wheelers. I am not sure how that translates into outboards but it can't be that bad.

Re: Susuki outboards
Mr F,I have an 88' 85 h 2 stroke that was on a fixer upper boat I bought a year ago that had been sitting for 2 years on a lot .It fired right up.I did have to rebuild the carbs, put in a new timing sensor and just recently a new water sensor.Sportscraft is also a dealer and they said that Suzuki has the best oil injection system made.So far Im happy with it.It does have a lot of electronics so if there are problems it's just a matter of trouble shooting.

Re: Susuki outboards
I have a 40hp. Long tiller electric 1991 model used every year for the last 11 years and it's an animal!!! It is a highend runner and runs like a DREAM! Never given me any problem and it starts and runs like it did when new!!! I love it. Two cycle too.

Re: Susuki outboards
Ray sorry didn't see your question until now. As far as maintaining and ease of getting parts, no issues there. I am not really confident in my ability to work on those things but I did the water pump impellor myself. Magnum Marine does all the services at a pretty reasonable cost to me. Like I said before I love my outboard
