Default Shrimp in the San Juans???? Need help!

Can anyone give me some basics on catching shrimp in the San Juans this winter??

We'll be up there over the Holidays and were wondering how to bag 'em. I know they're deep like 300-400 feet and it requires a shrimp trap, much like crabbing but a smaller mesh. But I'm clueless on anything else!!!

Any thoughts???

Muchly appreciated!!!!

Check the regs.I not sure but I think it is closed for spot shrimp(prawns)if it is they limit the depth you can fish for the others coonstripes, humpbacks and pinks. For bait use a mixture of seafood style cat food and canned Mackerel with a little Alaska fish fertilizer.Use a plastic container with 3/8 inch holes drilled in the sides to get the bait to drift with the current. You will need a chart, fish the edges of shelves or on the ridges.Make sure you weight your pots well the tides in that area are strong and you will need 2 floats.I have done very well on the spot shrimp but that was in the spring.Good luck and be safe this time of year the weather can change quick.
