Default Two Hit by Lightning

Man, I drove through this area within about 10 minutes of this happening. Hope they both end up OK. Reportedy, this was on SE 222nd toward Hwy 212.

Quote:
DAMASCUS, Ore. - Two men were struck by lightning in Damascus Sunday afternoon.
According to Alice Lasher with the Boring Fire Department, both men are in their 50s to 60s.

The men were standing about 100 feet from a house and underneath some tall fir trees when the lightning struck. They were reportedly having a conversation.

Lasher said one of the men appeared to be in pretty serious condition and the other appeared to be stable. LifeFlight could not be activated due to the storm.

The National Weather Service advises people to stay inside during lightning storms. If you can hear thunder, you are close enough to get hit.

It amazes me how many people walk around when lightning is close. And the parents that let their kids still play in the streets. I do hope these 2 gents make it OK.

I remember getting shocked because I was touching an aluminum window frame watching some lightning.

Pretty scarry here. I'm about 1/4 mile from the spot. We've had 4 or 5 different intense lighting storms over the last 3 hours and power bumps here. Just had a crazy 40 mph wind from the north, stopped and went dead calm, followed by aan identical wind from the south all in a 20 minute time frame. Calm again- for now.

I was at my dads house on Th out in Damascus and he was heading down to Sparky's Pizza to pick up our dinner and as a joke I told him don't get hit by the lightning right after he left there were some pretty intense lightning strikes and the next thing I heard were the emergency crews heading to the scene. Little did I know that that was not a joke about avoiding getting hit by lightning. I felt much better soon as dad arrived home safely
I just pray that those to fella's are going to be ok.

We were at a baseball tournment in Sherwood - my son'w 13-14yr team and had to convince the umps and tourny director to clear the field and call the game to get everyone away from the area... Lightning is not something to triffle with. Hope the dudes are ok. zip

One of the two was in cardiac arrest, the crews were able to get a heart beat/blood pressure back as of that evening. Current status unknown.
