Default lake oswego

Lake Oswego is Oregon's most affluent city-every week last year, ..... name of Sucker Lake (named after a prevalent species of trash fish) to Oswego Lake.

I found this on internet. is this true? why they change it name? do people live there ashame because of prevalent species of trash fish?

This was changed back in the 20's I think. It was to attract people to come live at the lake and the city surrounding it. No one wanted to live on "Sucker Lake" but Oswego lake sounded like a good place to be.

they probably have no idea unless they have visited the "heritage house" in downtown.

I could care less what the name is as long as it still puts out pigs!

Heard a rumor that that lake is going to be open to the public soon. Any thoughts?

Thats completely untrue. They are draining it this winter/spring to do dock maintenance and work on the sewer system.
The people around the lake are all up in arms about this and there is no chance that the lake will become public.

When I lived on the lake, each boater was given a booklet about lake boating rules and it had a history of the lake, including the original name of Sucker Creek and Sucker Lake.

If you lived there, you would be stingy too. If it became public, name one thing that would improve for the people that have paid serious money to live there.
