HMS Decision at PFMC Meeting
Some news today from the sportfishing reps at the PFMC meetings in San Francisco:
It was finalized not to permit nets smaller than 14 inch mesh. Long lines are also prohibited in the EEZ (200 miles) for Highly Migratory Species. However, the Council didn't completely ban the high seas longlines for swordfish.
This result is considered a huge win by the sportfishing community. Raise your shot glass to our brethren down there who have been working very hard on our common goals!
