Jenny!!!!! NEW FORUM PLEASE!!!!
Jen, I see that the Salty Dogs must be a popular forum as it has moved up from way down the list of forums to number three. Kinda like one of the local football teams that made it up to six before falling off the world.
But the SALTY DOGS seem to be over run by tunaholics. Isn't there any other fish in the sea other than tuna? I guess absence makes the heart grow fonder. I would call it PILAR'S FREAKS but that would be too close to the truth. Maybe TUNAHOLICS or BEYOND THE REACH.
We absolutely need to take a donation for some of the members of SALTY DOGS. Maybe we could sponsor an ifish tournament in Baja. Pilar, Popeye, Keta, MarkMc, Threemuch, Uglygreen, Skein, Corrirod, Miss B Haven (I love the skunk), Chumking, Puffin, Sturgn, Deepslayer, Fish Assassin, Wak'm&Stak'm, WP, Pitch Pocket, Baitboy, the lovely Pilar's Mate (she's more beautiful than those ugly lures that Keta posted).... Anyone I forgot??? They all could be part of the tournament committee and that way satisify their jones.... before it becomes.....
cabin fever.......
HAPPY HALLOWEEN

Re: Jenny!!!!! NEW FORUM PLEASE!!!!
Nahh.... that isn't extreme enough for this group. An ifish tournament would have to be beater pickup trucks with campers still full of duck and geese decoys, pulling a jon boat or hauling a cartop boat, with a couple of labs barking in the camper, going down the road to Baja to camp on the beach and go out through the surf to fish for blue marlin. If they hooked one they might be like the guy that wound up in Costa Rica a week later.

Re: Jenny!!!!! NEW FORUM PLEASE!!!!
Jen, that brings back memories of my foolish youth when I was too poor to afford a real boat with a cabin. If you were rich in those days you had a LORAN receiver that was as big as a house and you hoped it would settle before you left the dock. And they were major slow in updating your position. So you had to use your compass and depthfinder more than your LORAN.
So I had the great idea that I could use my radar detector from the car to figure out if a boat was nearby. So I rigged it up to the battery and left the dock. It was peasoup fog like the picture. Got a few feet from the dock and was fiddling around with the radar dectector to get it work and thought I was smart and gave it some gas. Well, the damn thing started screaming like crazy. Plus I was lost in the fog. Freaked out and started trying to figure out which way the target was coming from and swung the boat around in circles.
To make a long story short, we crashed the boat ramp and the radar signal was from the microwaves at the store. Learned a lesson about trusting your compass and depthfinder. Plus local knowledge is more important than any electronic gismo.

Re: Jenny!!!!! NEW FORUM PLEASE!!!!
Popeye.... You must be spying on the other website that I haunt... (calfishnet.com).... It is nice to have tons of waypoints, but it gets confusing when you are trying to figure what year they are from.
But I agree with you. It is fun to see the minefield of waypoints. Especially when they are only twenty miles offshore.
What is also interesting is that structure even if it is miles below the surface, still have an effect. Works for tuna as well as that other fish, small and large mouth bass. Now how do you fish for those?? With a worm under a bobber?

Re: Jenny!!!!! NEW FORUM PLEASE!!!!
What?! You mean there's fish besides TUNA? What do they look like? Where do they live? WHY do they exist? Who eats them? When do people fish for them? Wow! Major blow to my reality here!
