Hi all,
Happy Monday!!
Salmon were thick as flies on an old tuna carcass
this weekend out of Depoe Bay! There were a few fish
in as close as 40 fathoms, but the bulk of the feeder
fish were out at 60-65 fathoms.
We had great ocean conditions Saturday with widely
spaced swells running up to 7 feet and *sunshine*!!
My youngest brother and I fished until 3pm and had
the best day of Chinook fishing that any of my boats
has ever had (highest number of fish caught). We
considered that as a "record day" for us. That record
held exactly one day!!
On Sunday I had another record day as I was single
handing the boat. All fish for both days were caught
deep (100-140 feet) on our down-riggers. The hot spot
on Sunday was up off the Siletz river at 62 fathoms.
Good luck to anybody that gets out for these last few
days of salmon fishing!
