New to Ifish
Just thought that I'd say hello, my name's Matt. I've spent hours checking out the pages, mostly about river levels and where the fish are being caught. My passion is Steelhead but I've never backed out of a fight with a Salmon. I was born and raised in Southern Oregon and grew up on the banks of the Rogue River. Currently, I attend Western Oregon University where I'm majoring in Economics though my focus area of late has been winter steelhead. I love to fish the N. fork Alsea as well as the Siletz. I haven't got a chance to fish many of the other great rivers in this area. But there's always tomorrow. I look forward to swapping some lies as well as some truths.
P.S. Pretty busy this week but may have a open seat in the car as well as in the DB for a trip to the Rogue early next week. (Gold Hill to Savage Rapids Park)

Re: New to Ifish
It's not often I see someone from near my hometown! Welcome to the boards!
If you're ever in dire need of beating the water, let me know. I'm pretty familiar with the rivers you mentioned, especially the latter of those nearby coastal streams...
Good luck with the rest of the term, and make sure you take your stress to the river!

Re: New to Ifish
Welcome aboard, Riverdogg. Glad to see you have your priorities right, i.e. majoring in steelhead with a minor in whatever the prof was talking about last time you were in class.
I was just down there last week - my brother lives out by Wimer - and the river looked pretty good. I didn't get out, but man, I wanted to.
Hope to hear lots of good reports from you, and if you have a question or get stuck with something on the board, don't hesitate to give me a yell.

Re: New to Ifish
Hey Dave95: Southern is a great School and Ashland is a supportive town. The whole area is one giant playground. Within an hours drive, you can go to the Rogue, Applegate, and Illinios rivers. And if your into lake fishing, Emigrant Lake is basically in Ashland and hold some nice trout and bass. Also, Howard Prarie Resavoir, Lake of the Woods, Fish Lake, and Lost Creek Lake are all close and provide excellent fishing oppurtunities. There's a couple more good spots on some legal creeks that I'll let the locals tell you about when you get down there. If I hadn't needed to get away for awhile I would have stayed and gone to Southern. Oh yeah one more thing if the fish aren't biting, you can most likely pick up some gorgeous girls at the CatWok Bar in downtown Ashland.
Best of Luck to Ya

I sell to lots of Black Tomatoes and we get along fine. I think we could tolerate one another. It has been a long time since my class kicked the snot out of the Tomatoes in Football, you should be ok with it by now!
