Default Depoe Bay salmon 10/24

Had a great day on Big Blue today with Chum King. Glad I brought him along, or should I say glad he brought his pole, cause his pole caught all 4 salmon today!

We were basically in front of Siletz bay out in 250-275ft. of water fishing the riggers down 150ft. We tried various depths but hit all four salmon at 150ft. We did have several other bites, including 2 bites at 200ft. Hot bait was a white/green glo hootchie with whole herring attached behind a white/green flasher. Ask Chum King for more details if you need them.

The ocean was as flat as it could possibly be and for the most part it was clear skys with an occasional fog bank passing thru.

Fish ranged from 8lbs. to 16lbs.

Thanks for the company Chum King.

Mucho, mucho, bueno!!!

It is so nice when things actually work the right way. The best part of the trip was the fact that we didn't waste such a nice ocean by catching the fish too quickly. Well, maybe not, but it sure makes the "not-catching" times a lot more tolerable when the ocean turns into a frog pond for a bit.

Here's is a pic of the "frog pond", oh and Corrirod is in the foreground holding up our first two nookies of the day.

A bit more info, all of the fish were packed with anchovies. Which might explain the light bites we were getting. Two of the fish were caught using a whole herring behind the hoochie and two using a strip of herring fillet behind the hoochie.

Booja: No trollers working anywhere near us.

Rod thanks for the ride. It was certainly a memorable trip, and you are a pleasure to fish with. One more thing, you have got one heckuva nice fishing setup on that boat, very well designed layout.

Miss B.,

I couldn't figure it out for awhile but if you look real close, on the right hand side is my motor well and you can just start to see the motor coming into the picture.

Very deceiving though!

Hahahaha! Looking at that picture you'd think we caught them out of a bathtub!

Even I had to look at the pic twice to figure out that was the motor well on the right side!

Bathtub? looks more like a Canoe. Must be trick photography, makes everything look tiny. If the fish in the picture are really as much bigger in real life as the boat is in real life, they went 200-300 lbs! Of course that makes you about 30 feet tall and 5,000 lbs!
