Favorite AM Radio talk show?
Mine is the Dennis Miller show.
Absolutely cannot stand Sean Hannity (smug, no original thoughts) or Lars Larson (circular logic, lack of debate).
What's your favorite and least favorite? Why?

Re: Favorite AM Radio talk show?
Favorite is Dave Ramsey although he can be preachy at times.
Least favorite is Mark Levin. Callers who don't have the same view as him are called names and hung up on.

Phil Hendrie, but havent heard him in a while. Always cracks me up when folks dont know they are being messed with, all while expressing their raging reaction to imaginary guests. They are actually just Phil on a voice machine! He is good playing host and guests. Dont tell new listeners, its a great joke to play on friends.

phil hendrie is great! he got a little political after 9-11 and kinda went downhill for me, so i quit listening. but he is definitely a mad genius. i think you can get his stuff as mp3s at philhendrie.com. didn't realize he was on in the morning.
great thread! I get so sick of the political stuff on am talk radio (left and right), it's all so one-sided and dumbed down, I actually think it does a lot more harm than good since so many people don't make an effort to learn all the sides of issues anymore. (none of you well-rounded ifishers of course)
but it seems like it's either that or that morning zoo type nonsense.
Are there any good morning shows that either aren't overly plitical, or overly annoying?

Actually this comes on in the afternoon at 1500. Janet Parshall's America. She examines life and the news from a Christian worldview. Great guests and interviews. Not about self-serving political parties and their sock puppets.

Re: Favorite AM Radio talk show?
I get a kick out of Mark and Dave on my drive home. Funny guys. Once in a while I enjoy Rush but only once in a while. Lars, savage no thanks. Sean Hanity is ok but just never got into his radio deal. Dave Ramsey is pretty good and has great advice for all of us.
When heading to the coast in an early am run I enjoy George Nurri. Fun to listen to the creeps call in and make idiots of themselves. Art Bell was fun when he was around.

Used to love to listen to Mark and Dave...good, clean fun. They definitely have to both be on tho...when one is missing, just not the same. Unfortunately, since retiring, I don't listen to them anymore.

Re: Favorite AM Radio talk show?
This is a great Question!. My first is Coast to Coast am, none better in my opinion. Mark and Brian on KGON, makes me laugh, Thom Hartmann, If i want education on the Constitution, and civil rights.
Worst, By far, a toss up between Michael Savage, (He's just mean), and Rush Limbaugh, who in my humble opinion, does his daily show for corporations, not his listeners.
Have a nice day!

Re: Favorite AM Radio talk show?
Rick Emerson is great entertainment. He is, by far, the most unintelligent person on the air. He has knowledge of nothing but movies trivia but his observations of humans can be hilarious. Almost Seinfeld show like. His crew fill in his gaps quite well.
Dennis Miller has great insight into politics and I wish I has 1/2 of his vocabulary.

Can't stand political talk radio. Just a bunch of uninformed blowhards who take their leads from whomever is writing the biggest check.

Re: Favorite AM Radio talk show?
Funny, the only political talk show host that I will actually listen to is Savage. Although I may not agree with him on everything, he does have personality. I can't stand o'reilly and rush, and lars is too sure of himself, and not well informed enough on the issues. Although Savage is extreme, I think his points are well made.

Big Suck is a hypocritical, holier than thou, My way or the highway, my wife is hot (according to Suck's bantering), Morman.

Nothing wrong with religion, but he is in and out with it.
Phew...done. Done with that crew anyway in the afternoons. Mark and Dave are good instead.

Re: Favorite AM Radio talk show?
I love Phil Hendrie, He is the funniest man on the air. I listen to some of the other shows listed on my way to and from work. My favorite is Guntalk. It is on Sundays. I download the podcast and it takes me a half week of commutes to listen to it all. Great show on guns without all of the partisian political crap that you have to listen to on other shows.

Favorites
The tappet brothers on OPB radio on Saturday. 'Car Talk'
Also anything by Scott Ritter and of course 'Guns and Butter' on KPFA. These shows are available, if you can stream on the internet, at Radical Radio 24/7. No commercials and no faux news.
Watch for poetry, intellectual talk and Monty Python/George Carlin humor. Many archived lectures by Noam Chomsky, William S. Burroughs, Howard Zinn, Arundati Roy and many other intellectuals and historians.
Other luminaries include Maya Angelou, Jack Kerouac, Bill Hicks, Lenny Bruce, George Carlin, Monty Python, Weird Al, Hunter S. Thompson, Gore Vidal, Kurt Vonnegut, Michael Parenti, The reverend Billy and the Onion radio news.
Guaranteed to have you going from astonished and outraged to laughing uncontrollably.
Least Favorites
Lars, Rush, Faux News.

I like him cause he hates all politicians equally. Plus I just like driving home angry.
Mark & Dave are kinda funny also.

I like the Emerson show the more I listen. That news guy next to Emerson who sounds like Doyle Redland from the Onion Radio News is a total crack up. He makes the show for me.

Re: Favorite AM Radio talk show?
What's AM?
---
Nothing beats Click and Clack the Tappet Brothers on Car Talk! The closest to talkshows I get is NPR. Years ago, I used to listen to Rush, he sounds very convincing and is very intelligent, but started looking into some his 'facts' and they only show half the story most of the time. I'm finding BBC America on XM to sound like the most unbiased news reporting...go figure.

Emerson still on the air? That's good to hear. When I lived in PDX that was my favorite AM show, can't get him out here.
I think he was on 1080? or something like that, got fired and came back on another station? That was a fun show.
Lykis, ugh... creepy old pervert, can't stand him.

Tom Hartman
proves with facts that Lars, Hannity , O'riely, and yes even Rush are dead wrong on a daily basis, and by that i mean factually incorrect.
nothing like a true intellectual doing fact based commentary destroying the emotional arguments of the main stream media.
simple truth to power
argument over.
