Default Rigging a Kwikfish for the Fraser River?

I fish the Fraser river mostly and have never attempted to use kwikfish. Everybody plunks from shore with large spin-n-glos in 8 foot of water. The water is moving fairly quickly but I was thinking I could anchor in some of that 8ft water and run some kwiks out the back. Anyhelp on rigging them would be appreciated. Do I need to add weight or will they dive deep enough? Whats size would you recommend? We cant use bait wrapped kwiks up there but I was thinking of using some smelly jelly or something. Any comments are appreciated. Thanks

I think you are on the right track.you can flat line a 14 or 15 in 8 feet with current.and if you get in deeper water put a jet diver 4to 5 feet of leader. If you cant bait wrap the smelly jelly should work fine.

Check the hook regs as well - Some rivers up north are going to single and or barbless im told.

Replace the trebles with single siwash's, with a swivel. Run a size 50 jet diver in your main line, 2 Beads, a good barrel swivel, and a 4.5 foot leader (40 pound maxima). The jet diver will get the whole get-up down in a hurry, and won't flip off and dent your noggin when the fish thrashes on the surface next to the boat, like a cannonball sinker will. I back-troll the above set-up in swifter water, and anchor up (using the same set-up) in slower water. Just make sure there is enough current to shake the Kwikie. From what I've seen of the Fraser, that isn't your problem. Good luck!

To clarify Mojo's post. Change to A single barbless siwash. Only 1 hook can be on the kwikfish. The belly hook with a bead chain seems to work.

You can also bait wrap, just not with fish. Squid and prawn work. Also try placing an adhesive velcro patch on the bottom of the kwikie. That'll take a lot of scent.

If it sounds like I've done this before I haven't. I've never fished in BC before. There are no fish in the lower mainland. No reason to go there at all.

If you are going to sardine wrap them, use a dropper lead, if flatlining just scent the hooks with Anise paste. The sardine wrap will effect the dive of the plug and make it run shallower.
I use #20 jet divers on a 15 inch drop slider and the the wrapped kwickfish on a five foot leader. Consistently it takes fish in 5 to 15 feet of water.
