Most use the 1.0 and 1.5 sizes. I have never fished one bigger for kokanee.

I like the 1.5 size (they actually measure 2" in length) They come with 12 lb. test line, which I change out to 8lb. maxima and add two size 4 red gamakatsu hooks. I think the lighter line lets the lure dance more. Leader length is pretty much lake specific, I'm not sure about GP. I would probably go 3-4 feet, but others might chime in with a better idea for the lake your fishing. Don't forget to give them a good rub down with some gel scent. Too much corn (or worms if trout fishing) can mess up the action of the apex. Don't expect them to run like a flat fish, very erratic moves with a roll every now and then is a good thing! Good luck!

What about speed? I was using one Sunday and could not get good action from until I got up to about 1.4-1.5, which I feel is a little fast for kokes?

That is not too fast for kokanee, especially with an Apex. That is the sweet speed for Apexs. If you want to troll slower with an Apex and want more action, try shortening the leader and use a standard dodger instead of a sling blade type dodger to "help" with the action.
