Hi
I am pretty pumped after this weekend as I took out the wife for some spring fishing around home. Home is Port McNeill on Vancouver Island.
We did not get on the water until 10:30 as someone was

. I stuck with a couple of old favorites, green anchovie special and red hot spot flasher on one rod and a white hootchie and green hot spot on the other.
First fish to hit the anchovie was a beauty 18 lbs white spring that hit like a train and took off, peeling line like it was no tomorrow. I handed the rod to her and she played it like a pro. Interesting to note was it had been hooked a couple of days before as it had 18" of line and a hook embedded in its jaw. This is her first salmon and biggest fish ever. She was so excited

I think I am finished with reeling in a fish with her in the boat

Next to come up was a nice 10-12 chicken hali that she let me play

It was caught on the white hootchie.
Then about 30 minutes later another fish hit the white hootchie, this time she played it and it ended up being a 25 lbs chicken hali. This was her second hali and is now the biggest fish in her life!!!
That ended Saturdays fishing. She was hooked on spring fishing and could not wait for Sunday.
Sunday morning came and went as again, someone was very

. We had been up most of the night before, walking for the Cancer society's RELAY FOR LIFE.
The fishing was a lot slower until this beast hit. She was busy suntanning up front, so I got to play it. It hit a 5" Green Glow Bait Buster

, one of the last lures in my box that I had not washed that day. At first, I thought it was a cod as it did not pull out any line and just tugged until it it the surface, then it took about 100 yards of line in about 0.5 seconds, then turned arouind and headed straight to the boat. It eneded up weighting 32 lbs and was my first tyee in 14 years as I had been living in the interior after leaving the island. It was also the first tyee for the new boat. (sorry for the crappy pictures)
Wife with the fish
All in all it was a great weekend and the wife is now hooked on salt water fishing.
Look out next weekend
Cheers
