Default Keta's first tuna battle!

Sorry Keta it took me so long but I just got the film developed and scanned them in. Send me your address and I'll send the hard copies to you. Oh what a day!

Below: Hard to tell but notice the small amount of line left on the reel and I think his thumb has been worn to a nub!

Next: Finally slowing him down and starting to turn.

And finally: The end result! Way to go Keta!

corrirod - I'm kinda figuring since there's no fish picture that the fish won and that's Keta blood all over the boat. .
Keta - Hope you wash them boots before you climb aboard Miss B

PS - Wow - don't any of you guys use a bleeding barrel  . Looks like a crime scene

Miss B:

Standard routine on my boat is to bleed 4-5 tuna on the deck then roll around in it to please the fish gods. Obviously Bait Boy has the same procedure based on some pics in another post! Miss B., wanna come along?

Normally we bleed them over the side but occasionally, especially when the swells are bouncing us around, we poke'em in the boat and then drag them on the side. Not enough room on my boat deck for anything but fisherman unfortunately.

Sorry Jen, it was a weak moment!

anytime corrirod - just so it's your boat. I don't mind the blood in the cockpit, just don't want to have to clean it up in MY boat.
A 30 gallon plastic garbage can tied down works great. You hold em over, slit them (it's like opening a faucet when you cut em, isn't it?) and stick em face down. You can stack a bunch and then rinse/transfer to a cooler or fish box between hits. Of course that assumes there is a "between hits"
PS - I still think that's Keta blood. I think his thumb is ground clear down the the artery(SP?)

Don't forget to have a little salt water in the bottom of your barrell also. It helps in keeping those gills pumping. The barrell is a definite neccessity for avid tuna fishers. It keeps it so much cleaner. I don't miss hours of cleaning blood off of my boat.

Rod's crew keep the deck swabed under the threat of having our butts scuttled!
