Tuna Trip Roll Call (9/28-10/1)
I did a detailed look at the weather today, without going into a lot of detail, the never ending thermal trough of the last two weeks will, I believe, go away thurs / friday / saturday / sunday. I have a sneaky feeling that the big blue lask is gonna be flat around the saturday thru tuesday area (28th-1st).
If this turns out to be true, is anyone in for one last tuna trip?
Also Scott Kappes - Hot Tamalie Fishing Show - would like to go, if we do a group run.

Re: Tuna Trip Roll Call (9/28-10/1)
UG and Wak,
I am interested for Fri/Sat/Sun...I have an unusual situation where I will be off on a weekend and not during the week. I am sure I can scrounge up a couple of ridders and would love to GO!

Re: Tuna Trip Roll Call (9/28-10/1)
I'm in. We just have to be all too careful about the base swell that is pretty constant in the fall. The wind machine will go away soon but that does nothing for the storms that go by to Alaska 200 or 300 miles out. They launch 6 to 8 foot swell at our coast as they go by. 6 to 8 ft swell and any wind is a no go.
Wak? what do you think? Have we even got a chance?
Hey bud about your boat repair.... ignition coil? Have you got any tools? Buy the part and swap it out. The only honest boat mechanic I know is me. SO I get to fix my boat for free.

John,
Why is it that 99.9% of mechanics are crooks?

I'm very interested in going. Maybe I could even get the purple cedar plug back to UG before he starts charging me rent.

Re: Tuna Trip Roll Call (9/28-10/1)
Hot Damn the boat is fixed...OK now I can get excited.
Today it is UGLY...black NW fog ripping down the beach, but the swell is not to bad. It could change over night so I still am hopeful.
Sounds like a plan.

Re: Tuna Trip Roll Call (9/28-10/1)
If there is any room for a rider on either sat or sunday I would sell a kidney to go. I have access to a rod and am resonably expirienced on the high seas. ( Worked as a deckhand on commercial driftnet boats in ak for 2 years)

Re: Tuna Trip Roll Call (9/28-10/1)
It's nice to dream about tuna but..... Did you look at the SST charts too? They don't look so promising. The warm waters off the coast near Garabaldi are beginning to back away. Not much support behind it. The winds this week seem to have more of a bite to them than before. Yeah there might be chance to get one last lick at the longfin but......

Re: Tuna Trip Roll Call (9/28-10/1)
Hi 2 all u fisherpersons, I guess I am sort of the new guy on the block, but have been reading all of the mess. for some time now. Have thoroughly enjoyed all of the"B.S." but think the best of all was from Spooled. We were right next 2 them, & swear it had 2 be that whale we saw earliar, or 2 many refreshments. Anyway we all had a great tuna day, & were hoping for another one. Someone wants to go sat. etc. Weather doesn't look to good, but with a group would be interested.

Re: Tuna Trip Roll Call (9/28-10/1)
The winds seem like they want to cooperate but the ocean currents don't. The latest terrafin chart shows the water to be about 40 miles (at the 124 50 line) off Garibaldi before you hit high 50's temp water. Terrafin charts are tricky as they change the color bar as the water gets colder. The NOAA charts are less promising. Looks like the warm water is doing it's Fall retreat. Could be the fish have had their summer vacation and are headed south like the ducks and geese.
