Default Any Butts this weekend?

Was anybody able to get out this weekend for Hali's? Probably not unless you own a Coast Guard Cutter but I had to ask.

Stoyjun Princess made it out to the Rockpile on Saturday and boated an 80 lber to fill her tag. She reported the water was a bit soupy.

She also reported lots of limits of chinooks for anyone venturing 4-5 miles straight out of the bay.

I'll be there next weekend.

SjP... You had your dig, ive had mine. Your obviously proud of your boat, I am as well. You are right, no more nasties are necessary, I apologize... by the way, Seasports are a nice ride, The ones I have seen look to be well designed and built boats.

What a time we had, caught a nook on Friday, My 80 pound hali on Sat. and a 40 inch 27 pound Ling on Sunday. I had a blast!!!
Going back for salmon this next weekend with Moby.
I never thought I would really fill a halibut tag. This is my first year hailbut fishing, Wow fun fish.
When my halibut came up to the boat my husband Greg got the spear and made a clean shot. The fish run and hit the end of the rope...out came the spear head  but my line held  Greg got the gaff and in he came. It was a close one...to close
Had some on the barbi tonight, yummmmy.

Either the float or just shorten your rope up between the spear head and cleat. Just leave barely enough rope to get the job done. You don't want to give them enough slack to make a run. If your not getting wet when you spear them your giving them too much rope! :~)

THe Hali's were willing and wanting on Friday. We left under moonlight from Newport had our first fish on board at 7:00 The wind was howling and the drift was 1.5 Kn We were using 4 lbs to stay down. At 9:30 it picked up. just get down --have one... A tripple to finish us off. Fishing was great.. Sun was out... so was my breakfast..
