Re: Ochoco Unit maps
Once you have the boundry lines figured out, go next door to the FS office and get a 'fire map'... black and white topo we (firefighters) used to really get into a few back 'holes'. Lots of smaller spur type roads that aren't shown on many BLM and state forestry maps.

Re: Ochoco Unit maps
I second what Twitch said...unfortunately. haha Get a fire map!! Those are all we use for our hunting. The one thing about hunting the Ochoco unit you will have to contend with is the Rager road closure area. Only the green dot roads will be open. You can pick those maps up at the FS office as well.

Re: Ochoco Unit maps
BTF,
I've got a fire map and another map of the area which you can borrow if you want to. I hunted there for speed goats back in 2005.
PM me if you wish

Hey, you're just lucky I am an expert maperbator and was able to talk you and your old man into that series of skid roads via a crappy handheld radio from 2 miles away, or we would have never loaded those 2...er...3, no wait, 4 elk whole! Well, I guess 3 1/2 if you count your little baby for what it truely was

Re: Ochoco Unit maps
An elk is an elk no matter which way you look at it! The thing with the Ochoco's is there is not a shortage of roads in the area. That's why a fire map would be essential to figure out where you are.
