Smoked tuna
Yummmmmm.
I smoked the bellies and some of the oily trim from the tuna we got last weekend and they are good. It isn't as dry as the loins. Next time I am saving the bellies even though they are hard to bone.

Re: Smoked tuna
I was under the impression that tuna oil was "good cholesterol" like Omega-3 or something like that.

Re: Smoked tuna
Yes, do some research on albacore and health. I believe it is recommended to eat it two or three times a week for the omega 3's. And seared in a skillet with no-fat butter spray and garlic salt, it's right up there with good pizza as far as I'm concerned.

Re: Smoked tuna
You guys aren't talking about Sauza Hornitos Tequila are you? Good stuff, but pretty pricey up here. You should make a run to Baja for some good fishing and cheap Hornitos. Maybe I should have stayed in San Diego? Naw I never went tuna fishing until I met up with the salty dogs. I lvoe it up here.

Re: Smoked tuna
Deepsleeper,
I was in San Carlos MX in Dec. and to my surprise Hornitos was the same price as here....I asked of the teller, WHY? She said that there was a Tequila shortage????? I guess they plan their crops around the demand (4 year cycles on the cacti) apparently people drank more than they expected...9/11? But lucky for me  I stopped by the Liquor Barn in Redding recently and found it for $26

Re: Smoked tuna
I prefer Patron or Herradura, but in a pinch ...
So, how many of you have done upside down margaritas? I'm always a hit with those at parties.

Re: Smoked tuna
Popeye, you must have gone to a tourista liquor store. A lot of them do that. The worst thing they do is post their prices in pesos with a dollar sign, since they use the same sign we do. An there are always some "gringos" who will pay in good old U.S. Dollars.

Re: Smoked tuna
Deepsleeper,
Sorry, I'm not a newbie to MX, I've had a timeshare in Cabo for 14 years. I confirmed the so called shortage with other locals, guess it happens occasionally...exports first, locals go without. But thanks for the advice

Re: Smoked tuna
Here is an article from 2000 talking about the problems with agave production the tequila industry has been experiencing. It also talks about the explosive increase in demand for tequila.

Make mine Herradura, the silver will be fine. If you don't have Herradura then Hornitos will do.<g>
