Graduation at Last!!
Hey everyone. I just graduated from OSU and received some sweet gifts. My grandparents gave me a rifle that was my Grandpa's favorite. It is a Colt-Sauer 7 mm mag, a sweet shooting rifle and the smoothest action I have ever used. They also gave me four boxes of ammo for the gun. They also gave me an elk rack that my grandpa, dad and I shot about five years ago, a big, heavy 6x8 rosey. This was our first ever Roosevelt elk. My parents also gave me a safe for all my guns. I don't have any pics to post yet, but when I do, will post some. I also received enough money to afford the shotgun I have been wanting, but with a baby on the way, the shotgun might be put on the backburner for a little while. With the new rifle I can't wait until hunting season.

Re: Graduation at Last!!
Congratulations!
Anything with the Sauer name on it should be smoooooth. My Sauer 202 was the smoothest action I have ever felt on a bolt gun.
Treasure those family gifts!

Re: Graduation at Last!!
The money will go fast, the ammo will get used up, but you can stare at that sweet rifle and elk rack fro years. I still have antlers of a 4x4 mulie and a .270 from my grandfather who passed away in '88. Priceless.
Congrats on the diploma. Be proud of the accomplishment.
Good luck with the baby. These times are special. Start writing a journal. It's fun to read it later.
Go Beavs.

Re: Graduation at Last!!
I disagree eHunter. To me, a hunting rifle or shotgun is more like a baseball player. In his prime, you pencil him into the lineup every day. When there is a hot young stud in the minors, sometimes you just gotta call him up and bench the old timer. Its nothing personal, just business
That's why you'll get the chance to tell me about that new M70 in 270 WSM someday. Its just begging to be called up from the minors

Re: Graduation at Last!!
Yea but Dan but when its in the 9th and you need to stop a run you go back to the good old tried and proven. The young studs have to prove them selves first hope. I am not still using that old 06 this fall..

Re: Graduation at Last!!
Hey BroncoIIfan,
Sounds like you got some good stuff for graduation, sorry I couldn't make it out there. Now you will have to learn to shoot right handed. You have plenty of time before the baby to get a shotgun .

Re: Graduation at Last!!
I graduated in Forest Management, the best college in the nation for that. I don't have a permanent job yet, but I put the job hunt on hold for a little while because my wife is on bedrest until October when our baby is due. So I don't want to put her through moving. I do have a temp job with the family business, so no worries for a little while. Thanks for all the comments guys. Here is a pic of the Roosevelt we shot. He's a 6x8, no score, yet, maybe someday. We got him five years ago and he's been with my grandpa for the last five years.
