Default Handline for Tuna ?

Up in Seattle for business ... store down by the commercial docks has a special, handline with shock absorber, 200', nice snap/caribiner on one end and industrial sized swivel on the other, 100' mono (unknown weight) and a tuna clone for $25 ...

does anyone do very well with handlines ?

I only fish four handlines and one rod if it's slow. When I'm in them, I can catch many more fish on them than with a rod.

Did you mean 200' or 200#?
A 200' hand line is longer than anything i have ever used. Most seem to be 40' to 80'. 100' of mono will make it almost impossible to pull in by hand. I normally run 6' or so is all.

I assume its blue cord with mono leader and a jig., hand lines are called meat lines due to their effectiveness. Live bait is better still.
If its way to long you can make them shorter. There's some pictorials on making them in the archives. The commercial jig boats use them.
