10 people on board we ended up with probably 250 fish. I t was suppose to be a two day trip but all of us were totally wore out. I know if I fished today as planned I would not have been much help. I had to rally the gang a couple times yesterday to keep the guys fishing. They are really big fish this year and they were really tearing us up! Bye the end of the day we all agreed that we had plenty of fish and had enough punishment for one trip. If we had caught all the fish we hooked I know we would have had at least 400!! I was fishing forty pound line [maxima] and still busting and losing fish left and right. Three of us had over 30 each anyway. We wre fishing anchovies, and once in awhile guys were throwing small scampie jigs,silver or white and they were working also. We would pull jigs untillfish hit but only had too make three stops before it was fish on for the rest of the day! One of my buddys was up there trolling jigs and when I talked too him at 2:00 he had about 30 fish. I been tuna fishing all over world fo 15 years and too tell you the truth I have never seen a tuna bite last that long> I guess the day before was just as good. I know after a couple of days rest I would love to experience that again!!!
Heck I am just about to swim out to sea and try for tuna now! I cant seem to convince my dad to go out, and havn't had any luck getting an open seat this year.
This post has me absolutly frothing at the mouth for tuna fishing!! Someone help!!
Just got back from a charter trip out of Westport on the Ms Magoo out of Ocean Charters. What a trip at 11:00 we made a bait stop that lasted nine hours!!! 200 fish plus later and 150# of bait everyone looked at each other and thought what was that, my back and arm is so sore I will have to rest for couple days! Must be getting old!!!!!
