Found fishing pole in the Willamette
Hi.
There is another chapter to this great day of fishing with my boys.....To make a short story long.........Right after we got back to our anchor rope and got our gear back in the water I hooked another shad.
The reel I use for shad fishing is a 42 year old Pflueger Supreme that my mom and I bought my father for Christmas. It has seen better days. The other day Hogmaster said he was having trouble with it and gave me a raft. I refuse to retire it. It has landed la boat load of Chinook and Steelhead and has huge sentimental value, however, it has been in and out of Ollie Damons several times.
Anyway, it was acting up again. We landed the fish and I mentioned to my boys that I had been looking for a reel like my youngest son Sam's. I really like the way it works for small fish. I called Larry's, Sportsmans and Ollie's and none were available. I also looked on the internet with no success. I guess they dont make them any more.
All of the sudden my son Sam hooked another shad. It wrapped around my line and it was a mess. I got my line untangled but we semmed to have lost the fish and Sam was hooked on the bottom. I worked his rod a little and it started to free up. I thought it still had a fish on so I handed it back to Sam. He reeled it in but no fish. What it had was a newer pole and a reel just exactly like the one I had wanted to purchase earlier in the week and just like we were talking about.
Unbelievable!!! All this on Friday the 13th. My wife wondered about us going on the river on this usually unlucky day. I told her CrabMan and da boyz make there own luck.
After some discussion we all agreed we needed to post a Lost and Found. If anyone lost a pole in the Willy recently we might have it. Just PM me with a description and we will get it back to you.
