Posting to Your Own Thread
I have been seeing some threads lately where the thread starter posts and posts and posts and re-posts to their own thread. I can see carrying on a dialogue but sometimes it becomes excessive.
One thread had 32 posts of which 15 were by the thread starter with 2 sets of 4 posts in a row. Then they responded to their thread in another thread with a link to said thread.
Sorry for the rant but geez... chill out! Any message being sent is utterly lost as I feel most people just check out when they see the posters name.
Am I the only one that feels this way?
(I anticipate some people are are now going to humorously bump their post count...by the way Nice Fish! )

Re: Posting to Your Own Thread
uhmmmmmm... is it really that big of a deal for you???Seems like you put some effort into counting up posts on these threads. Isn't the easy answer to NOT read them?? With everything going on in the world, how many times someone posts in their own thread ranks....... let me see......it's number.......... WOW! Imagine that. It didn't even make the list!
Hope your day gets better.

RF,
Maybe it's the air or water in God's land, but we seem to think alike on this.
I have much more to do than worry about such things....

Re: Posting to Your Own Thread
Hopefully the next version of the forum software that we upgrade to will have a fix for this "YOU HAVE TO READ EVERY THREAD AND EVERY POST IN EVERY THREAD" bug that we've got.
Sorry for the inconvenience.

Re: Posting to Your Own Thread
I was wondering, I have a classified post and I repost on it to bump it, and update pics and stuff, it that what bothers you? Or just people that chat to themselves through their own posts?

Re: Posting to Your Own Thread
Sorry guys, good intent on trying to bring up posting issues. Poor choice of wording on delivery. My bad.
Hardly a reader of every thread but some have useful topic info. Wading thru the afore mentioned issue gets frustrating.
TTT's are not the issue, but rather the excessive posting to ones own thread.
Hey Barney once the voices can agree on a plan of action, they will seek out a like minded counselor. Between the two of us we could have quite the chorus.
Pile on my ifish family.

Yes, my friend you have a major problem, your mind is just too idle from lack of outdoor stimulation, and your filling it with useless information. The though of someone counting the number of times a post's author repost to the same thread is a major violation of MAN LAW.
Step away from the computer, implement an immediate FAST from IFISH, yes you must leave the village.
Do not allowed to return until you take your place back in the natural world.
Go bird watching, fishing, something but get off the computer.
I will be implementing a similar FAST starting today.

Re: Posting to Your Own Thread
I've never done it but I don't see a problem with it if somekind of dialogue is going on between Ifishers on an issue(s) where new opinions or facts keep coming out and they are being responded to.
Dave, could you elaborate a little on your upcoming fix. I'm a little computer illiterate and I'm not sure what you meant is coming down the pike. thanx

Re: Posting to Your Own Thread
Who cares about the post count. Heck look at me, always in Word association thread. But when a post starts RE: reply to what? We are good at, but we don't have ESP, keep it all in one thread.

Re: Posting to Your Own Thread
Splash --- I would guess that many of these folks are fairly new and don't really know (or care to know) about the edit functions. So they just jump back in with a new thought when it pops up rather than editing their original post.

You click on discussion board to get to any of this.
I would think that discussion would be an interaction rather than one thought and your out.
