I need dog name ideas!!
In four weeks, I am getting a dachshund puppy!! He's a standard red male. I'm thinking of naming him Kirby after the Vacuum brand. We have a toddler who drops food for our chocolate lab who we have nicknamed "Hoover". So I thought Kirby might be cute, but I'm not 100%.
I grew up with a dachshund named Oscar (yes, after the hot dog), so I can't have that one again.
I know you guys and gals can help me come up with something creative!

Re: I need dog name ideas!!
Dyson would be a cute name and it sticks with the vacuum theme.
I've always wanted a dog named chinook or coho, but my wife vetoed both of those for our dogs!

We named ours TURBO (as in turbo charged) loved to run chased a tennis a ball for hours... buy a CHUCK-IT tennis ball thrower you dont have to bend over to pick up a slobury ball and you can chuck-it 50 yards with a flick of the wrist..

Re: I need dog name ideas!!
Here is a whole new avenue for you. They were just talking on the news how people in china name kids after major events. This year the newest name that was registered the most was "Olympic Games". In chinese of course, so it would be something completely different when you hear it but this is the meaning.

"Banger" - English version of a sausage.
Dog names should be one or two syllables.
# 2 Rommel
# 3 Stretch
#4 Slinky
# 5 Nathan http://nathansfamous.com/index.html
And then it hit me........"Kobayashi" ......Winner !

I like Kirby and the sticking with the theme idea too. I did that with famous composers by using Beethoven and Mozart. Bay and Mo for short.
ElectroLux. Now that was funny.

You cant have a Hoover unless you have a Homer! Homer fits for a little bald headed Weiner dog.

Re: I need dog name ideas!!
You guys are good. And you're crackin' me up. I love the idea of Lux Luther! But I don't think I could holler that at my dog in public without being a little embarrassed.
My husband's stupid idea of Barky Bark Bark etc. is dumb. He's just mad I'm bringing home another mouth to feed!
I also forgot to mention that our other dog's real name is Dolly (named after Dolly Parton) so a country music theme also works. Kenny and Dolly would be kind of funny!

We have a Dachshund. My daughter named him Badger. It fits him really well.
I was in the park the other day and met a lady with her black lab, Betty.
I liked it. The next hunting dog I am getting is going to be Bill or Chuck. I have never had a friend named Bill or Chuck.

Re: I need dog name ideas!!
What do you guys think of the name Magnum? Magnum PI is one of my favorite shows of all time, and I always wanted to get two black and tan dachshunds and name them Zeus and Apollo. Those of you who've watched the show know what I'm talking about! Then I could shout out the front door, "Zeus, Apollo! Patrol!".
Who knew picking a dog name could be so hard? Naming this dog is distracting me from my other job of picking a name for the human boy who's due to arrive in October.... ugh. That's the job that will be hard!

Zeus and Apollo. That's perfect! Schnitzle is referred to as our Ratweiler from time to time.
