I received a phone call the other day from the NMFS. I was asked if I was a saltwater fisherman. Then I was asked if I would participate in a survey.
Do you own a boat?
What port do you fish from?
What type of launch facilities are available there?
How many days have you spent fishing saltwater in the last two months?
What species were targeted?
You get the idea.....
This is the second time in two months I have been surveyed by the government. The first time was while launching at Newport Marina over the 4th of July and it was the Corps of Engineers. My Dad actualy received the Corps survey in the mail.
Anyone else get the phone call, been approached by a surveyor, or receive something in the mail? :whazzup:
It's nice to see the government showing interest but it worries me at the same time!!! The caller from NMFS was somewhat evaisive when questioned. I could not get a straight answer from her concerning the use of collected data. She just said they were trying to make things better for us. It's possible she was simply uninformed. How do you know for sure they were from the NMFS?
Maybe they were from PETA or some other weird group.

I'm surprised I'm the only one contacted so far. I thought maybe some of you other active and out spoken meeting attenders and letter writers might have been on their list also. They had to of gotten my full name and number some where??
Maybe I'm just being paranoid.
