Winchester-Alsea jaws
Here's another Central Coast report for those who might be interested. Fished the Alsea Saturday morning near Drift Creek and Oaklands. There was a teeny bite early and saw about five fish caught but my boat didn't get one. Then fished the jaws on the p.m. incoming and got zero again. Only saw one caught. The conditions were real nice and the water temp was up to 52.
Then blew down to Winchester Bay on Sunday. Got a 20 pounder in the first 15 minutes and had two other bait stripping bites but that was it. That was all near the jaws. Fished outside in 325 feet for a couple hours for zero. Saw a few caught and heard the real bite was about 12 miles offshore. The Winchester Bay jaws area was plugged with baitfish and I marked a lot of salmon too. All day we trolled through and around feed and birds. The water temp was 52-53. I really thought it would turn on sometime during the day but it never did. Left at 3:00 p.m. for the drive home. Would have liked to give it a try today. The ocean was unreal flat.
