Default Spinner/Plug/Spin-n-Glo Color ?

I have Question about spinner/plug/spin-n-glo color. How do you know what color to use in different water colors and in different day light? Do some colors work best when it is bright out with clear water? Or dark out, with clear or dark water? Is their a Book Out that would kelp me?

I usually put old faithful out: :grin:
Spinner = Size 6 Gold blade and 8mm florescent red beads.
Plug = K-15 Double Trouble.
Spin-n-Glo = Size 2 Chartreuse Clown with or with out prawn. Thanks In Advance....Ross

Are you talking salmon or steelhead?If steelhead there is a good plug book by Mike Laverty.When the water is cloudy I like painted lures.If it is running green to clear I like metlalic colors especially when the sun is out,for steelhead that is.

Try the book "What Fish See" by Colin Kegeyama. Published by Amato books or on Amazon.

Blaze red, or Orange works good in all colors of the river.

Yeah what fishchaser said, for salmon especially. Although...brass spinners with green or red beads can be deadly as well.

You opened up a can of worms here! For springers any color works, as long as it's silver and chartreuse. Lime green will work in addition to the chartreuse. Someone told me they caught a springer on hot pink and silver, but they lie a lot, so I don't think I trust them.

In reality, I follow the old rule..."On bright days/clear water - use bright shiny lures. On dark days/murky water - use dark colors. Clear and brite, fish can see really well. Dark and murky, fish can't see far, and strike at sillouettes.
