Halibut Derby Days--Bummer
Some of us were thinking we might work toward changes in how the halibut season is worked. It would be real nice if we could just go when we could and when the ocean allowed, instead of on days picked a month ahead of time which always are when I a) have company or b) have a health problem or c) am scared of the waves and stand on the wharf watching the sea.
We are thinking in terms of a 6-week window to harvest however many halibut each.
Does anyone agree that the current system has major flaws? Does anyone have any suggestions about a different system?
