Kids Camo
This year, I really want to take my 7 year old son out to waterfowling with me. He is so into it, and jacked up to go duck/goose hunting.
He won't be firing a gun this year, but I want him to have some fun in the marsh. He loves to handle the dog, and I am thinking he can bring his plastic shotgun, with the idea that he treats it like a real shotgun, proving his gun safety skills to me along the way.
I want him to have fun, and will pick my days, but clearly, warm, dry gear is a must. I am struggling trying to find camo for kids. I really can't see spending more than 100 bucks for camo clothes he will outgrow by next year.
I am thinking of getting him a set of rubber boot foot waders, in youth small, which will be a bit too big for him this year, but might last until he is 9. But I am having real trouble finding any kind of coat that will work.
Any suggestions are appreciated.

Re: Kids Camo
what size of pants, shirt, and boots does he wear? I may be able to help out. There are several of us who have paid top $ for kids camo and have it stored away somewhere!

I will have to ask the wife. He is only about 60 pounds, and 4' tall. I think that is a 6. I think if I buy anything, it will be 8 or bigger. He is like a 2 or 3 foot size. I think his waders might be a 4 or so.
I found some Stearns Mad Dog gear, I can get him a growler jacket and a set of boot foot waders for like $100, if I can't find some used stuff.

Re: Kids Camo
With the waders, look at a pair of irrigation type hip boots, they're short so they fit kids pretty well. Typically they are not insulated, but a good set of wool socks and some toe heaters and you're good to go. A camo poncho might be a good idea rather than a full blown one year suit. I often just covered my daughter up with a big sweatshirt over her coat, that works good in any weather you really want to have a kid out in.

Re: Kids Camo
I agree that cabelas is a good place to look. I started waterfowling this last year and had to gear up for three of us myself and two boys.
It was a hard thing to do. But get the best quality coat and boots you can it does no one good if you cant stay in the kitchen and enjoy the cooking.
One more thought become a member of Delta Waterfowl and attend our meetings. We have some youth clothing and have started to collect coats and boots that can be used by others. I am sure as my boys outgrow their stuff it will go to the local Delta chapter clothes bank for others to use.
