Default Thanks for the Support

All,

When I made my post about "Some People Bumbing Me Out" I knew I would get allot of positive remarks and I have read each and every one of them...and I really appreciate the email as well (Zaq, Catch & Eat, Lure Dragger, Willow Drifter, FM2, Tanner, ******, Dave Johnson, Lets Fish, Salmonberry Leff & Pathetic Novice)...

Now that the majority of the people that come to this board has validated the appreciation for the stories and reports I will definately continue (For what they are worth  )...

Honostly, that is why I come here...I love the stories and the pictures and most of all the LEARNING ...

I just like to see people having a good time and sharing the information...Have I stuck my foot in my mouth...yes....ask Fear No Fish...however, when I make a mistake, I usually will own up to it because that is who I am...OBTW - Fear No Fish is another person we can all turn to for information on East Side (Up River) Columbia Fishing...

Am I "Gods Gift to Fishing" not hardly, not even close...but it is what I love to do. Hopefully from time to time I can provide a tip or just a humorous line..

In addition, from this board I have met more good people over the last 6 months and have learned to become a better fish catcher from all the great information I have received...

By the way, I don't mind being called out if someone feels I am boasting but during the last 2 weeks I think I shared everything I did over my holiday as far as the where and how...If any of you did not see that in my post...go look, its all there...

Thanks for the support everyone and I will see allot of you out there on Saturday...I am the one that will stick out like a sore thumb in the "Kentucky Hog Hunter" boat...

First Off, I want to thank everyone who has posted to this thread in a positive way...

Seems like there is one of these every quarter or so and I am somewhat embarrased that I am the one that stirred this up...

I just sent the following message to the person that "Ruffled my Feathers" and I honostly don't wish that individual any ill will or hope none of you do as well...

The individual stood up and made things right and this does say something about ones character when they do this...

I know this...ask "Fear No Fish"

If you care to read this here is what I sent him...

quote:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Listen,

You stood up here and I acknowledge that...

I have stuck my foot in my mouth several times and have gone back and realized that my comments may be sensitive as well so I made things right by publicly apologizing for my foot insertion into my mouth...

I don't get to fish everyday or as many days as most...I had some time off during the Chrismas season and very well deserved since I spend allot of time away from my family traveling with my job...

Believe me, I was planning on fishing hard and taking advantage of the great conditions as well as mending a relationship I have with my son...

My boy was a troubled youth teen who never used to get things right, wouldn't go to school, smoke pot all the time and truly headed down a one way collision course with death....

Enter me...hard nosed, defiant...Sober since 1989...that was a recipe for a non productive relationship and believe me...that what we had...

Enter the Oregon National Guard Youth Challenge ...My son attended that from June till December and now it is like a tranformation for him & I...he earned his credits and he is going back to school to graduate early...and most of all he is also reaching out to mend our relationship...

Now you know the story and may understand why I am a little sensitive because I am trying to teach him that there is more to a fishing trip than the catching...I am just proud to have him spending a day with me, tcatching any fish is secondary...If we do catch a fish...he is smiling and that in turns makes me happy & proud...

Listen...No hard feelings...
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Thats all...listen I appreciate the feedback & if anything comes out of this...motivate yourself to spend time with your kids because that time is short & precious and you need to take advantage of it...

KHH, Nice letter. I know exactly where your coming from as my son and I are in the same situation. He was into drugs and had a bad alcohol problem. He has since joined the Army and seems to have straightened out his life. We used to fish together all the time when he was younger but, as he got older he lost interest. I always ask him if he wants to go hoping that someday he'll say yes. Now he's somwhere in Iraq and I pray that when he gets home we can mend our relationship and maybe spend some time on the river together just enjoying each others company. And if we catch fish thats a bonus.
I didn't catch all the information as to why there is so much flak being passed around this site about counting fish and all. But I do enjoy your posts and your pictures and I glad you will keep on posting. I have learned alot from posts like yours.
Take care and best wishes for you and your son.

Jet Drifter,

Thanks for the kind words...

Contrary to many...Character does matter and the measure of an individual in my book is that you have to mix in a little humility in ones life to accept and overcome those tough times that eventually challenge us all.

Terry,

Been busy at work and not on much last few days. Well looks like you stirred things up a little. Sooooooo, welcome to the club. But don't fret it. Whenever one person is fishing more than others and especially catching lots people are bound to get bummed out, it's just human nature. As you know I dont fish winters much anymore and enjoyed your posts and your enthusisuam. I have two things to say:

1. You can't please all the people all the time

2. When you are a highliner people will take pot shots for any number of reasons, just get used to it. Be who you are, do what you want, live your life from your heart (as I know you do). Most of the time, not allways, but quite often those taking shots are just whiners and wannabees and nothing you can do will change that.

I do like the post where someone talked about this being a fishing board where people are encouraged to post pictures, stories, numbers, statsticts and all that other good stuff that keeps us all comming back. I know that I am jelous of your success cause you were out making it happen and catching fish and I was stuck working and doing chores, but my arm is better and my gear is getting cleaned up. So I'll have my days.

Thanks for sharing your trips, pictures and statistics as I said a few weeks ago, You are a fish catching stud............... FB

KHH,

I am a newbie and really enjoy reading your posts. As others have said, you can't please 100% all the time. If they don't like what you say, they can click on something different. The internet is too big a place...

Keep it up.

Tight Lines,

KHH,
I enjoy seeing numerous pics and hearing about fishing experiences. Keep it up. I get out as often as I can but sometimes you pay the price. With the amount of trips you've taken the last couple weeks, something had to give a little. Maybe, some time with your wife and kids other than your son who looked like he was having a great time or it could have been just sleep. Don't let those who slam you for following a passion discourage you from sharing. I'm jealous because you are out there a lot more than I am and, dang it, you're catching fish. As long as you're sharing the info and keeping the passion alive for the rest of us, you can post as much 'mayhem' as you can. SHS

KHH - Glad you saw the light. This is after all a medium for sharing and caring. Glean some useful stuff once in awhile, contribute when you feel you have something to offer and enjoy the connections and friendship the board can offer. A very good friend of mine passed away yesterday at the age of 54. Believe me, life if too short for the negetive stuff. Keep on Keep'n on and when the snow melts and the rivers receed go fishing and post your results for the rest of us to enjoy! Peace. zipper
