Hi Guys and Gals,
A quick report on the last four days out of Depoe
Bay ... Friday the bar was closed to recreational
vessels under 40'. BIG swell, lots of nasty slop.
Only a few of the die-hard charter boats and a couple
of small commercial boats went (the commercial boats
... both dories ... left on the flood tide).
Saturday the bar was closed to under 16' vessels.
We took Pacific Mistress out for tuna. We headed
North past the 45 line and made it out as far as
45.15/124.40 and found 61.5 degree GREEN water.
There was no blue water at all. We got 2 albies for
our troubles. The one charter boat that was out there
with me (Amigo) went home at 36 miles ... too rough
and he had a bunch of sick passengers.
Sunday 3 charter boats left Depoe Bay. One I didn't
get any numbers on because I think he came in early
because of the ocean conditions ... not sure. Another
(Mr. Max) went out 52 miles for 8 fish. The other
(Enterprise) went out 65 miles and came back with
about 20 fish (less than one fish per customer).
Chinook fishing sucked for everybody with the inshore
water temps dropping drasticly. The 6 pack charter
guys were feeling lucky if they were able to get one
fish per boat. The commercial guys had real slim
pickings with zero, one and two fish days. Ugh!!
When I left Pacific City this morning at 4:am it was
raining lightly and ... was that a little southerly
breeze I felt??

Maybe that'll push the warm
water onshore for my next Friday-Monday weekend!!
Sea ya,
