Re: Temp, Temp, Temp?
I know I'm an idiot. It's not an offshore flow but a west wind. I got so excited that it might be calm that I can't tell east from west.

Re: Temp, Temp, Temp?
I live right on the beach just north of Newport and there is little wind today, and they say less tomorrow.
I keep checking for a terrafin update but it ain't happend. I will continue...but my thought is.......go blind and hope for some water.
Any thoughts from the experts.....mine is run up and out the 45.00 line, the best water has been hanging north...hmmmm????

Re: Temp, Temp, Temp?
Go get 'em wak -- let us know the results...
Popeye posted on "role call Newport" -- you might want to check that out.
Damn, I'm desperate to go, but everything I see temp-wise is not very favorable -- the mbay site looks pretty bad for temp.
Who knows, the only thing I know for sure, is you can't catch a fish if you're not on the water....
good luck
If you hear of anything, I'll run with you Sunday if you go --

Re: Temp, Temp, Temp?
Wak,
Here is one chart that I look at -- everytime I access it, the water temp is worse than the day before. Popeye said his charts show tuna water way out of range.
http://www.wrh.noaa.gov/monterey/sstmaps/sst2.gif
I don't know -- it's suppose to warm up by the weekend in the valley, so I suppose it's going to blow again. I'm starting to get a little crazy over this wind -- being an ex-coastie, by now that NW ought to be settling down for the year -- looks more like June than August.
It sure looks like a long run right now, but I guess that can change rapidly.

Re: Temp, Temp, Temp?
Another thing I noticed is....this weekend it was 50 at the pile, and it is 55plus today. The 55 water was 20 miles outside the pile Sat.
On Sundays terrafin there was 60 degree water 30 miles from Depoe

Re: Temp, Temp, Temp?
Wak,
Sorry, I've been busy doing "honey do's"!
I don't know about tomorrow for tuna. On one of the SST's from 8/18 it looks as though Tuna Town is just in the 16 C water...barely.
I was actually thinking of doing some salmon tomorrow out of Garibaldi. I don't have a crew put together for tomorrow otherwise I might be up for the exploration. I might be able to pull Wednesday?
What do you think? Call me: 503-626-7264

Re: Temp, Temp, Temp?
I heard a report on the docks at Newport this morning. Two local commercial boats were in this morning. One had 1 tuna for a days fishing and the other had 2 for 2 days fishing. Cold Water. Doesn't sound too promising.

Re: Temp, Temp, Temp?
Believe it or not I saw some guys cleaning their fish at Hammond in astoria. 40 miles out 270 to tuna town right from the mouth of the Columbia. they had a dozen fish and they were back in at 3:00 or so.

I am hoping they get something up soon, the ocean looks better now than at daylight.
I'm ready....

Re: Temp, Temp, Temp?
Just pulled up the subscription site and it had a partial shot from late yesterday. It shows 60 degrees pushing into the 45/124.20 line. Guys, that's real close to DB!
Cheers,
Bruce
