not another boat thread!! well maybe..
I am making the move from small river and lake fishing to big water fun...I am going to sell my 19 NR and buy a combo fishing/cruising boat (need to make some concessions to the wife!!). I have a few in mind that I think would work real well...26' striper with the alaska bulkhead...23.5' trophy with the alaska bulkhead, seasport XL 24'...these are great fishing boats, but not as good for cruising.
We are kind of thinking about the Bayliner (yeah, I know, but....) 2858 classic command bridge. Looks to be a nice set up for fishing and cruising.
Does anyone have any experience with this boat?
Miss B'haven, what are you fishing in? It kinda looks like a cruiser, too...any thoughts?
On a different note, does anyone have an alaska bulkhead on their boat and wish they didn't? and why not?
I appreciate your help with this...I have already checked the archives and couldn't find this question.
Thanks!!!

Re: not another boat thread!! well maybe..
I don't wish I didn't have my bulkhead, BUT, last time I was fishing, I had three crew, plus myself, all big guys. That's pretty crowded on my 22' Olympic. I took the door off for the trip, and from now on, if I am running 3 crew members, I will take that door off. What a difference! More deck space, better access to storage.
Love that wheelhouse when I am riding in in 20+wind.

Tagster,
We have the 2359 Trophy with the bulkhead. We love the layout of the boat but have had some Mercruiser issues that we're working out with the manufacturer now.
We've had it in Canada, the San Juans and all over Oregon...it is a sweet ride.

Re: not another boat thread!! well maybe..
Tag...it may be a little out of your price range, but if you haven't seen one, take a look. ACB's (aluminum chambered boats) out of Bellingham have one of the hottest things going right now. Check out their site, you can get base price quotes online. They have a new jet boat that I will look hard are for my next ride.
