Corrirod and others, I use Coastwatch...
What works best for me is as follows:
1)go to
http://cwatchwc.ucsd.edu/cgi-bin/user/vcatalog.cgi
2) username: images
3) password: TYPHOON
4) click on "5km SST indexes" in the lower right corner of the first page.
5) look for the most recent thumbnail with good coverage (less cloud cover is better)
6) click on that image; it will bring up the sat. photo for that pass.
7) click on the area of the cost you want to see
8) if the coverage looks good, click on the customize button at the lower right corner of the page, if not repeat step 5
9) change from Celcius to Farenhight (sp?)
10) change temprature range to 55 minimum and 66 maximum
11) click submit button, if you want to upload / post you have to change the file extention to .jpg and the file name to 8 characters or less
Also I have the been playing with the Coastwatch data analysis tools (free download from the same site) and I think that I will soon be able to provide saltydogs with a current high resolution (1.1 KM) composite image built of the previous two days (48 hours) worth of indivigual SST data sets (in Farenheit) with both a better lat/lon overlay (for sure) and a navigation chart overlay (possible, not sure). Also I think I may soon be have access to current hi-res SSC (sea surface color) maps to locate where the green water ends and the blue begins. We shall see... more in a few days.
