I drew Nevada Mule Deer!!
Now the question is "Where?" Checked this morning and my credit card had been charged for Nevada Mule Deer tags..I've drawn twice in the past several years and killed two very nice bucks..I can't wait to find out where..With an Aug 1st start date, i will have all the time i need to whack a good one...Here are the two bucks from the past two trips...

Re: I drew Nevada Mule Deer!!
Congrats. What areas did those two come from?
We used to go every year I was in HighSchool out to NE NV and hunt the early season. Damn it was hot though.
sure do miss that hunt.

Re: I drew Nevada Mule Deer!!
Do you know where you got drawn, or is it a where ever tag? Last year my friend was successful in unit 171 and 172. Anywhere near Elko is going to be good, I think unit 68 and near it are the pretty hot as well as the North Western part of the state. Here is the link to NDOW harvest statistics.

OC12,
Us public school employees love those August hunts... which is why I can't wait to draw my pronghorn tag.
Congrats on the draw! Nice drop tine on the one mulie. Will you haul the goats to Nevada???

Re: I drew Nevada Mule Deer!!
Oregoncritter, congrats.
huntinfool, I believe the 4 10.00 charge means you did not get drawn, but you are in the lottery for a super tag. I think for non-residents the only super tag is for deer. I could be wrong about this, but that is what I recall about Nevada's system. I know residents get hit for as many as 6 $ 10.00 charges because they have super tags for all species.

Re: I drew Nevada Mule Deer!!
No, i won't bring the goats on that hunt..Depending on what unit i drew, i will either get packed in or simply hike..Lots of variety in units over there. A good friend will be going with me for his first experience of Nevada, he's in for a treat..
HuntinFool, yep, that 10.00 charge sucks..I've been hit with that for two years straight...

I know i'll draw at least one good Oregon tag...Elk hunting on the coast Probably draw a sheep and goat tag as well. Might as well get them out of the way while i'm still young...

Re: I drew Nevada Mule Deer!!
I still waiting for the day when I hit the jackpot and draw multiple premium tags in the same year. Now, wouldn't that be a fine dilemma? Let's see, pass on a hunt or take the whole fall off. Hmmm....

Re: I drew Nevada Mule Deer!!
OR Bow Htr,
I did see all those new late hunts..Sure to be pretty good...However, I figured i would wait and see how they acutally shape up before i burn a bunch of points on them..It would take a pretty awesome late hunt for me not to hunt blacktails..So, after you go hunt it, let me know....
Beamerfish,
I would be forced to quit my job...But i would eventually find another one so i could pay for some mounts....

I actually just finished a new trophy room so at least i wouldn't have to stress about that..I just had a new shop built and framed in a 12x30 room for my mounts and hunting crap..It will be under lock and key so i never lose anything Sara thinks shouldn't be laying around the house

A Mule Deer tag is one of the best reasons to go to Nevada ... in my opinion. (That or recovering a lost stash of gold from the 1800's)
Are you planning to go with archery gear on your sheep and goat tag this year? For the goat tag I am drawing in Oregon I am thinking a flint lock rifle hunt.
Hope the R Mt Goat tag comes in for you. I'd like to see some photos of your domestic goats packing out your Oregon Rocky Mt Goat.

I was actually considering using an Atlatal?? for the sheep, but the goat i will stick with archery gear...My goats may have mixed feeling packing out one of their own kind..I'll just blindfold em!
Nevada is an archery tag...
