I tried on Saturday, 8/10 out of Newport but got blown off the water early. Saw two boats off of the lighthouse and only one with lines in the water.

I didn't see any salmon at the cleaning station, either. It looks like bad seas for the rest of the week. :depressed:

Hey there Marty, I just got back in town and this is what I ve heard.
My son (Little Wacker) went to the pile Fri, and no salmon, caught halibut and lings while trying though.
The commercials that are doing real good are off of salmon river, I heard of a 54# caught, I think they are staging up for the big migration.

Wak'm,

Thanks for the info..........How far of a run from Depoe is the Salmon R. area?? I know I wouldn't make running over the bar. My month long stay at Depoe is over, so I have to run down tomorrow and trailer it home. Just thought I may as well do some fishing if the weather cooperated.

Hey Marty, I was told it is 11 miles, and that they run up 9 then troll on up, in 210 ft of water.
My son talked to one commercial guy yesterday that said he had to purt a second guy on the deck to keep up last week, (that could be a story) but it sounded good when I heard it.

I see the warm water moved off shore some, I am thinking tuna next week. I have a backyard wedding for my daughter this Sat, and many chores.
