Default Time 2 share ur trollin technic 4 bays/rivers

The salmon are getting ready to move in and in someplaces they are already coming in and people are catching them. So what is your technic? Spinner? Herring? plug cut or what?? here is what I have been the most succesful on down here on the coquille river.

I use a sliding moochin rig. And plug cut me a herring. Above the moochin rig I have a wire splitter that I use those little funnel weed things. and I have a 2 ounce weight. my hooks are about 3-4 feet below the splitter. then I hook on my herring, If the herring was laying on it's side after p lug cut it would be something like this (use your imagination)
\___> I would hook it on the top of the slanted side and bring both hooks out, Making sure the top hook (slider) comes out right where the herring changed color. And just let the back hook dangle.... Hope you can understand my technic. What do you use? I'm going to try some spinners this year and see what happens.

Possibly the greatest invention since the wheel or the twist top beer bottle: Rotary Salmon Killer.

Fast, Effective, Foolproof.

Even comes with a pretty good hook!

Keta you crack me up.

Lepper - The reason you are getting such short replies is probably becuase this topic has been covered in two threads on the main board and one over here in the last week or two.

Time to use your search feature.

the only thing I would add is to lengthen your leaders.. I fish about 7ft leaders.. I have a 2' section just after my spreader (we call it the bumber) w/ a chain swivel and a duo snap and all on my leaders are pretied at 5' w/ a barrel swivel.. lots of hardare! I always tie my hooks solid.. this will help the spin of your bait.

I use 40# leaders and 25# mainline.. I make my own speaders.. I use a 20" lead dropped w/ 2oz lead ball.. since I know you'll be fishing the Coquille 2oz is perfect.. I fish 90 feet of line... I have this market on all my rods.. I adjust the speed of the boat to the depth of current dirction... faster or slower dependng on wave action and wind..'

I fish blue labeled herring I feel they spin better!. I like a nice tight spin.

I feel one of my keys to success is to target one section of the river abou 1/2-1 mile long.. like from the bridge to the power line.. or the flat above Prosper or Rocky Point, or Harrys flat above the old carery or Bear CReek or Flower hill.. don't jst troll for an hour in one directon fish one section hard and then move on.. I like to turn around and check my bait on a regular basis.. and I feel that fishing a shorter section forces me to do this. Your bait always needs to be checked and rechecked.. makes sure its spinning..

and lastly.. I always fish one rainbow spinner at high slack at Rocky Point!
