Default whats up @ Dabney?

Went to check the launch this morning before dropping a truck off and heading for Oxbow.
It was covered with about 3' of sand and mud.
Didn't want to risk burrying the truck so headed for the Clack.
landed 2 chrome natural hens, pushing 12#.
Sorry no pics. can't afford a didgital camera after buying the new boat.
PS Clack was turning chocolate as I drove home over Carver.

i fished from dabney to lewis and clark on saturday. my wife and i had to drag my drifter about 50 feet from the end of the boat ramp to the main river. my wife didn't have waders or boots so she did it barefoot, what a trooper! anyways, that ramp has been getting nasty over the past few years. in the summer/spring you can back your trailer up to the main river no problem but the pool in front of the ramp has filled in with sand lately. time to get a bulldozer in there and dig it out.

Time to call the state to put the park fee $$ to work.
Maybe the Sandy chapter NWSH can come up with an idea.? I'd be more than happy to help to clean that mess up.

I don't think the problem is with the ramp. Over the last several years, more and more flow has been shifting to the other side of the island, and now so much goes over there the launch is pretty much unusable. Unless some major changes are made to the head of the island to divert the flow back to the Dabney side (and that will never happen), I think the launch is a thing of the past, unless and until another major high water event changes things in our favor. I also think there are folks who prefer it this way.

Ran into this problem at Dabney last year, particularly since I tow with a two-wheel drive Toyota. I made a single call to the State Parks Dept. and the next day they were out with a backhow clearing the sand off the ramp. Someone give em a call and let them know it's time for another visit. I wouldn't be surprised if they responded asap.
