OH MY....tuna water
If I am not blind.... the terrafin shows 60 plus water ....at 44. 52..000 and 124. 15 .000, and the temp break runs west for 20 miles with nothing but warm water to the north,
In other words.....run northwest at 300 degrees and you will be there in 10 miles.
If it holds I will be going Thursday morning for a short trip, ( I have to work graveyard that night).
Please post an update if you go tomorrow, or if you want to go Thursday.
Good luck Corrirod....the ocean is flat as a lake tonight.

Re: OH MY....tuna water
I just took a look at terrafin!!!! It looks like you could go tuna fishing on the jetty at tillamook. There is one bunch of warm water out there. The seas were 2ft swells with 1 ft wind chop-- does it get any better???
I just got the "Dbl Gaynor" back on line, she has been overhauled, and is ready to go. I just have this family fishing at B10 that has been planned for this weekend. After Sunday all things are subject to warm water and calm seas. I hope to be there.

Re: OH MY....tuna water
The Louie-Louie was off of Cape Falcon, right off Manzanita all of yesterday. At 260 feet depth, the water was 62.7F at the surface, and the water was green as far as you could see.
Someone told us that you need to be in BLUE waters to likely find the tuna, even if the water is warm. [ which we're only measuring at the surface]
Do you guys agree ?
We ended up salmon fishing this far out, and brought home a 20lb Yellow, Alaskan, femail Chinook. thanks, Craig

Re: OH MY....tuna water
Lots of good water temp out at the garibaldi Halibut hole, but very poor color. Murky green. I have caught tuna in less than blue water, but never in REALLY green water.
Temp and color can change in a day though, so you really never know until you try. Good luck!

Re: OH MY....tuna water
I don't know if this will help or not, but I went out of Depoe Tuesday and ran on a 260 for 42 miles before we got into them. A friend of mine (Salmon Assasin) got 58 the day before so I went with his area and it proved a good decision. I found fish 5 miles before his starting point and we got 18 and went home to fish for chinook. It was really foggy the entire way and so the water was cooler than I expected. We didn't get any kind of a good temp break until we got to 40 miles. We instantly got bit and as we continued to troll further west, the fishing just got better and better. We hit water to 62.8 when we decided we had enough fish to deal with. When we got back to Depoe we cleaned the boat, and fish and we heard everyone on the dock talking about the chinook fishing. The guy in the slip next to me (with 2 guys) landed 12 chinook to 26 lbs. (caught and released) and others were reporting similar story's. The charters were limiting and the commercial trollers were out in force................so we decided to stay another night to hopefully add to our pile if sushi. So we hit it early and hard the next day (Wed.), put only managed 2 chinook and about 14 silvers (that were released) and called it a day at 11:00. The wind was coming up and there was word of 11 foot seas and 30 to 40 knot wind by Thursday afternoon from the NOAA weather report. I haven't looked at the long term forcast, but with that kind of a blow it will put things down for awhile.
Oh, I was heading for 44 54 and 125 05 when we got into our fish. The day before my friend went out some one on this board posted tuna town numbers of 44 36.25 and 125 11.70. Which is not that far away, so either this area is holding a big school of fish or they are moving. The fish traps worked good and so did the rapala sized yozuri's. Biggest fish was about 28 with the average about 15lb.
With this blow coming its time to get all the pesty chores done and be ready when it quiets back down.
Good Hunting
Marty
