Default anyone running a Garmin g2 Chart?

I have a 4210 and its pre loaded with a pretty good chart, but im wondering if its worth the extra money to get the g2 chart.

Looks like they have one that covers Wa, Or and a little of CA....

anyone using it?

I have one - and like it much more than the pre-loaded charts, or even the Blue Charts on CD that you can download to a chip.

Much more details, port overhead photos (OK, not really that usefull), better details on bottom contour, etc.

Not certain it will help you catch more fish, but it's not always about that - it's about having the best toys

I have the 4210 and love fish eye view, I used it when checking out humps and bumps of the structure i'm over. Make sure you get the 08 chip and not the 07, I guess there was a bug with the fishing chart displaying the depth in meters and not feet. I do like the fishing chart as well, a lot more depth lines aka more bathometric chart like.

thx,

The bathy charts was more of what Im concerned with. The stock installed ones seem decent. But like you say.. having all the toys is fun..

Does having the chip installed slow the update rate on the plotter for you guys. Ive heard in some cases it really slows down the re-draw speeds as the chart pans or when you scale in/out

I have not noticed any slowing down on mine.
I think when you are at a large scale like 30 miles you might see something but while fishing I don't notice anything at all.
